The Winter is the coldest season and it stops the process of plants growing. It is recommended to stock food at summer and spring time.
During Winter, you can barely get any food (once again, stops plants from growing), and it can make sacrificing harder, depending on whether you have a few bins of apples or mountains of bread, pies, whatever you name it.
